Valley View Center was a major shopping center in North Dallas and became an important part of the area's history.

This independent archive collects information, photographs and memories connected with the former mall and the surrounding Valley View and Midtown area.

Valley View Through the Years

1970s

Valley View developed into a major regional shopping destination in North Dallas.

1990s

The center continued operating as a large enclosed shopping mall with major department stores and retailers.

2012

The Parade of Giants brought large rolling sculptures to Dallas. Julien Reverchon later became associated with Valley View.

2013

Dallas adopted the Valley View–Galleria Area Plan, establishing a long-term vision for redevelopment.

Later

The Valley View property became part of a larger redevelopment effort known as Midtown.

Valley View & Midtown

A new vision for the area

The City of Dallas adopted the Valley View– Galleria Area Plan in May 2013. The plan covers the area between Southern Boulevard, Preston Road, LBJ Freeway and the Dallas North Tollway.

One part of the plan envisioned a redesigned regional center on the land occupied by Valley View Mall, with shopping, restaurants, entertainment and other mixed uses.

The plan also emphasized improved streets, open space, pedestrian connections and a more walkable urban environment.
